Susan Mathias


Susan Mathias, has over twenty five-years of experience in healthcare with consulting firms that have been leaders in outcomes research and related fields. These companies include Health Data Resources (1988-1990), Technology Assessment Group/The Lewin Group/Quintiles Late Stage (1991-2001), and before founding HOS, as Vice President, Outcomes Research, at Ovation Research Group (2001-2007). Susan's expertise includes developing and validating PRO measures including health-related quality of life, treatment satisfaction, resource utilization, and workplace productivity, and using these measures in multi-national studies, including clinical trials and real-world, observational studies. In addition, Susan has experience conducting economic evaluations, and in the statistical interpretation of health outcomes. Susan has also collaborated, presented, and authored numerous scientific papers in such therapeutic areas as mental health, women's health, neurology, oncology, gastroenterology, dermatology, endocrinology, and pulmonary disease. Susan is supported by a team of experienced consultants.


LAURIE BAKER, MPH

Laurie Baker has been working as an independent consultant in the healthcare field for the past six years. Her areas of expertise include designing and overseeing health outcomes studies. She is skilled in the conduct and analysis of patient, clinician, and expert focus groups and interviews.


Laurie completed her Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her Master's degree in Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Previously, Laurie served as the Executive Director of Mobile C.A.R.E. Foundation, a non-profit organization, in Chicago. Prior to her work at Mobile C.A.R.E Foundations, she was a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Epidemiology and Outcomes Research at Abbott Laboratories in Abbott Park, IL. Earlier career work also included an internship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD 


HILARY COLWELL, MPH

Hilary Colwell is an outcomes research consultant with more than 15 years of healthcare experience overseeing and managing global outcomes research projects. She has designed and implemented several large patient registries and other observational studies involving the collection of patient reported outcomes (PROs). Hilary's technical experience includes providing strategic consultation, developing, validating, and implementing PRO questionnaires, and interpreting and reporting study results. She also has extensive experience in the design and execution of qualitative research studies involving the collection of data via focus groups and in-depth interviews from patients, clinicians, and other experts. Hilary has collaborated, presented, and authored several scientific papers in a variety of therapeutic areas and has participated in the preparation of a PRO dossier for the FDA.


Hilary received her Masters of Public Health in Community Health Sciences from the University of California at Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley. Prior to working as a consultant at HOS, Hilary worked at ICON Clinical Research as a Senior Director, Global Health Economics and Outcomes Research.


ROSS CROSBY, Ph.D.

Ross Crosby has over 30 years of statistical expertise in the health care field. He provides statistical and methodological consulting services on HOS projects including participating in the design of studies, selecting appropriate statistical approaches and methodologies, developing analysis plans, conducting analyses, and interpreting and presenting study results. He has authored over 160 peer-reviewed articles in a variety of therapeutic areas and has presented numerous papers at scientific meetings.


Dr. Crosby is also currently the Director of Biomedical Statistics and Methodology at the Neuropsychiatric Research Institute and a Clinical Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Fargo, North Dakota.


Ross received a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Nevada in Reno, Nevada and a BA in Psychology from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota.


TRACI KALBERER

Traci Kalberer is a health research consultant with over 11 years of research experience. Her areas of expertise include research in the areas of cancer, compulsive shopping, and eating disorders and obesity. She has experience working on both the clinical and statistical side of research. Her areas of expertise include developing online surveys, creating databases, and programming hand held palm devices. She also currently works full time as the data manager for a cancer research company.


Traci received her undergraduate degree, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Minot State University (MSU) in North Dakota. 


MELISSA MATOSIAN

Melissa Matosian has over fifteen years of combined research and project management experience within the healthcare sector, focusing on health outcomes research, study design and implementation. Melissa has a broad range of expertise including project design and implementation, materials development, data management oversight and reporting. Melissa has particular expertise with qualitative research, developing and integrating patient-reported outcomes into large scale studies and other prospective research studies and has been responsible for the strategic planning, design and implementation of a number of disease registries and late phase studies. Melissa has extensive experience developing data collection tools for use in qualitative research studies and has been responsible for conducting in-depth interviews with patients and clinicians and synthesizing the results. She has worked on projects in diverse therapeutic areas including cardiology, dermatology, nephrology, pulmonology, obesity, oncology, pain management and women's health. In addition to her project-related experience, Melissa has been responsible for developing and managing marketing and promotional strategies for several organizations.


Prior to working as a consultant with HOS, Melissa has worked as a Project Manager for Ovation Research Group (now ICON) and Quintiles. Previously, Melissa served as Director of Marketing and Membership for the American Thoracic Society (ATS) and as a lobbyist for the American Lung Association in Washington, DC. Melissa received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California at Davis.


LEE ANN PREBIL, Ph.D.

Lee Ann Prebil has worked in epidemiology and health outcomes research for over 15 years, during which time she has conducted, and consulted on, a variety of qualitative and quantitative research studies. Her experience includes the development and validation of study instruments; the design and execution of community and health outcomes studies; and the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of study data. Her therapeutic areas of interest include oncology, women's health, mental health, pediatrics, and obesity. In addition to working as an outcomes research consultant, Dr. Prebil also currently works as an epidemiologist for the County of Marin, with a focus on breast cancer and issues related to maternal and child health.


Lee Ann received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, her Masters in Public Health in Maternal and Child Health, and her PhD in Epidemiology, from the University of California at Berkeley. 


BETSY TSCHOKIK, Ph.D.

Betsy Tschosik is an outcomes research consultant with over ten years of experience in patient-reported outcomes and health economics. Her work experience ranges from strategic planning, literature reviews, gap analysis, and reimbursement dossiers to prospective late phase research, including disease registries, Phase IIIB and Phase IV studies. She has published in clinical and outcomes research journals and presented at national and international conferences. 


Betsy is also a registered Pharmacist with six years of experience in clinical pharmacy practice. She completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency and her PhD in Pharmaceutical Administration at The Ohio State University. Prior to working as an outcomes research consultant, Dr. Tschosik was Vice President of Project Management for Ninaza, a late-phase electronic data capture company, and prior to that, Executive Director of Core Operations for Quintiles Late Phase.
